What you’ll do.

Made for CDM by artist Gregory Barsamian, this kinetic sculpture uses persistence of vision to turn a spinning armature into an animation: a bird flies out of a picture, becomes hands, and releases a light bulb that fades to nothing.

  • Persistence-of-vision animation
  • By artist Gregory Barsamian

Science and art collide in this surreal, eye catching, one-of-a-kind exhibit. Made especially for Creative Discovery Museum by artist Gregory Barsamian, the Barsamian Sculpture uses the scientific principle persistence of vision to trick the eye into seeing a sculpture in animation. Watch as a bird flies out of a picture, soars up toward the ceiling only to turn into hands that release a light bulb that fades away into nothing. Adults and kids alike will be mesmerized.
